L1-cache off and on. how to test if it use romex or windows cache?

Post by xerolot902 »

Version 3.09

1. L1-cache off and on how to test if it use romex or windows cache?
If i pause cache at program and will use, for example game launch - it will change back cache to windows caching, or it will no more caching?

2. Putting, for exmpl 2gb l1-cache from 16 gb is it windows cache still working? stand-by or smth?

3. Will be new version or it be support multi loading from different sourses? I have normal HDD with windows 10 and game - also i have flash 8gb and slow hdd and memory. Can it use speed of all to launch faster my game?

4. Will be white-list or hotkeys to freeze part of cache for loading selected programs?

1) If you pause Primocache's cache task, the system will continue to use Windows' cache. See #2 for an explanation why. I typically do this for backup cycles where I don't want the cache contaminated by non-essential data, and then re-enable the task afterwards.

2) The Windows file cache is always running, there's simply no easy way to disable it. Any testing you do with different cache sizes will indicate more or less the performance you are receiving from Primocache, with little variation on the Windows cache. For that reason, it's easy to test Primocache's cache performance & impact by running repeating tests with it on and off.

3) Best answered by Support.

4) I am unaware of any hotkeys for Primocache currently, though it does have a CLI (Command Line Interface) for many of it's functions, any of which can be run via batch files.

Each cache task in PrimoCache is able to cache up to 16 volumes. You can also create multiple cache tasks if necessary.
