A question about L2 gather...
Sorry, one more question. If you have L2 Gather set to a number e.g. 10 seconds.... does L2 gather compete with original disk reads or will it pause while original I/O's are happening? Sometimes I automatically process 1 Tb imagery overnight and the original drive may go idle after loading an image (then takes about 60 seconds to process the image before save) so I would like to make sure my original disk reads loading those files don't get slowed by L2 gather but L2 will take the opportunity to read what it can in between and pause when Photoshop is loading a file for processing.

Yes, it will. I think you may try the gather option "IDLE ONLY".
