Seeing Proof Data is being Loaded/Saved into Hidden Cache L2

Post by RawPower »

I do not recall reading in FAQs or Guides explaining where is the data point showing that one's hidden L2 Cache is being filled up with Data. I always got disappointed by seeing, after a Days gaming 30 GBs Total Read.. then reboot and down to 246 MB. I FINALLY saw that there MAY be a relationship between the Free Cache L2 at bottom 167.38GB and the left side list Level-2 Cache 191051MB (191GB)... So I AM seeing an accumulation of Data by subtracting 167.28GB from L2 Size 191GB. So am I right? This took me many months to notice and many months of messing with settings to get that Total Read UP and boot as a noob in tech.

IF so, it would be comforting to add another line JUST SHOWING the amount of data in Cache. Would help programming noobs too methinks.

I currently figured out as a Gamer that I should choose at creation SSD READ ...then, following preset ..no need to add in OS Managed Memory ..0 and Gather Interval 1 as I do not want to wait for Idle ...Block Size 4KB as all drives 4KB, Read-Data Only Cache Strategy, (as all I care about is faster load times to beat the competition to the Map in game so I can not be left with a single shot rifle ONLY and all the others got all the Choice positions.) So Enable Defer Write and below are Greyed out no need for L1 Cache ...whatever THAT is for.

(Think it is a good Cache Strategy for a Gamer? ... I have 2Tbs of Games installed as an Art Collector of Fine Creative Sim Art and so like this for loading faster. )

Yes, this is correct. Usually we only care how much free cache space is available, without the need to know how much data stored in L2. You can check "L2Storage Read" and "L2Storeage Write" to know how much data were read from the L2 cache and how much written to L2 storage device.

Well as a Gamer user, mostly with Steam Collection I am concerned about seeing Proof for myself about how much Game Data is being Cached into the Hidden L2 Cache and after clicking on all my current interests and loading maps and leaving I have a nice 104 GB left Free out of 191GBs Cache size ....(some other area in program says 186 is size though). So I know and have PROOF that the Program is working well. I am sure any reboot of a game will access this 100GB Cache of Data.

I had to Verify Game Cache on a few games in Steam as they require it often losing many files...if you check your list. I noticed a Massive load to Hidden L2 Cache during this. So as I verify a Game in Steam.. the Program may be Caching the entire game! Curious.

I have fully filled my entire 200GB cache by using Verify Game Cache in my main Steam Games now. My MS/FS =100GB-140GB depending as shown on disk... maybe the Compression status....all compressed......Microsoft Flight Simulator may have fully filled it missing more maybe. Well I have Proof of a fully filled Gaming Cache now on Primo Cache. I have 220GBs of Mega Earth Scenery on that SSD and had a 15GB PageFile for all Windows 10 on it. I think it was too much use of this Storage SSD, so I put the Pagefile back onto C Windows with Windows decided size 2GB. Turned on Superfetch in Services of C too for C Superfetch as I read in forums better on. I now only have Scenery and Hidden Primo using this 500GB SSD. I think this is all I can do to make it work.
