Ramdrive aligment OFF

Post by TheVeteran »

Hi to everyone!

Ok I'm going to start off by saying that I'm happy with my ramdrive, of course I have to, a 128GB memory kit what else you should expect from, that been said lets go what we came for.
Ok I have my ramdrive set, software register and when I go and test the ramdrive with AnvilPro it reads on the side info. (Off Alignment). So my question is can I go to diskpart utility at the command prompt: clean, recreate and align this Ramdrive? the type of drive that I create was a SCSI type. And if there is a better way to align it, could get some details on the process, TIA.

For ramdisks, there's no need to make them partition alignment. Alignment requirement is just for SSD drives.

Ok the reason I brought this up was when I ran anvilpro to see the performance on the drive and it shows off alignment, then I said look at that and that's without proper alignment, I don't want to see the results with alignment set on this drive. But since you said there is not need to have alignment done, well question answer thanks.

As an aside, large (multi-TB) hard disks also benefit from partition alignment in my experience (due to using 4KB sectors). But yes, for ramdrives, it should be a non-issue.
