Using L2 Cahce on a RAID 0 SSD

Post by davidst95 »

Hi,

I have 2x 4TB HHDs in mirrored and 2x 500GB SSDs in a stripped. I want to use 60 GB of my SSDs for L2 cache of my HHDs. Whenever I try to set it up it showing both SSD drives. Should I split of the L2 cache between two drives? What is the best way to allocate a L2 cache on this drives? Thanks!

Are you using Windows' software RAID (set up using Disk Manager) or firmware RAID (using either a motherboard RAID chipset or an add-in card)? Firmware RAID setups should appear as a single entry for PrimoCache, so if you're using Windows RAID then try firmware - if available.

My suggestion is to split the caches. Just make sure the RAID controller (assuming software) is aware or at least tolerant of the space reserved for this purpose.
