Truecrypt

Post by T2x »

Using truecrypt to encrypt my drives seems to work fine with Fancy Cache for the main system drive( C )

All the information in the performance monitor seems fine and it gets data about the drive fine.

I also enabled it for another drive but that drive does not show up in fancy cache by its name but by its volume GUID which means fancy cache is likely accessing the encrypted data directly. It seems to track reads correctly but when I write something the write IO's are not tracked properly in the performance monitor.

The perfomance monitor does show some write ios but it is very few( less than 10 per minute ).

I am just wondering if this will cause data corruption or some other bad things because it doesnt seem like fancy cache is able to track when data is written to this drive?

The drive that I am questioning is the bottom one

Two points:
- I use TC as well on some partitions and have been a tester of this FC since 0.2 (I think). Never had corruption due to any of the FC versions thus far. Used the DISK edition when I needed caching of encrypted partitions, as my drives would not show up in the VOLUME version. This leads me to the second point...
- I notice that in your screens hots the encrypted partitions are listed (\\?\Volume\*) which is odd as I do not see my partitions (right now using FC VOLUME with caches on two regular partitions).

Anyways, the basic feedback is that I never experienced corruption using TC + FC DISK/VOLUME in version 0.2beta and up.

Ah I am using the volumes edition so maybe i should switch.

Do you use TC on your non system drive? Do you have any non system drives encrypted?

Can you check your performance monitor and see if your Write IOs seem valid?
