Windows 8.1 Start at Boot and Drive letter gone for Level 2 Topic is solved
Windows 8.1 Start at Boot and Drive letter gone for Level 2
I do not see the icon for Primo in taskbar at startup and only see something called Program in Task Manager start up ...is that Primo? Is it supposed to have icon in Taskbar? Also, I partitioned 30GB for Page File R drive and 435 GB S drive for Primo Level 2 when I formatted S for Level 2 it dropped out as a Drive in Windows and is called Other in Minitool Partition Wizard. Is this all normal?
Re: Windows 8.1 Start at Boot and Drive letter gone for Level 2
1. Level-2 storage volumes are formated to be dedicated volumes. They are not recognized by Windows. It's normal.
2. PrimoCache has two parts: core drivers and GUI/CLI applications. Core drivers implements all cache functions and they always automatically start when Windows boot up. GUI application is a dialog program which you see when you double click the PrimoCache program icon. It does user interaction works, such as create/delete cache tasks. GUI application is not necessary to run with Windows boot-up. But if you want, you can enable it by tick the "Launch PrimoCache user application at Windows startup" in the "Option" dialog.

Re: Windows 8.1 Start at Boot and Drive letter gone for Level 2
Thx for info. Yes it is working good. Very happy with this cache tool. By clicking Format for SSD Cache disk it drops out of visible HDs. I still have a problem in my Windows 8.1 with certain programs which will never show in taskbar. The program is Optioned to start and show in taskbar with Customize taskbar set for show all. I had to drag the icon into STARTUP programs in Programs list and THEN it shows up in Task Manager ....the GUI ....but not showing and if I click on primocache icon it says already running and so no access. I maybe a bug in my install.... ever heard of it? TrackIR 5, Everything Search and Primo will not auto load in taskbar even with Admin selected or icon placed inside Startup folder.
I believe this program can help with all my Windows games installed in spinning disks and cache favorite game data onto a SSD. Even though I have two 1 TB Raptors in Raid 0 for my 350 games by using the Cache for them and my Flight Sim Scenery TB drive I believe I will get SSD type speed for these games.

Is there the PrimoCache icon in the system tray as below? BTW, we have improved it by automatically open the existing PrimoCache instance instead of showing the error message "already running". It will come with the next version.RawPower wrote:if I click on primocache icon it says already running and so no access.
Re: Windows 8.1 Start at Boot and Drive letter gone for Level 2
I googled the problem and found that I had to disable UAC for 3 or 4 Programs like yours to show in taskbar at startup...it disables Metro Apps though to have UAC disabled. But it is the only one not showing automatically. Also, Primo is not showing up in Startup list in Task manager set for admin or not. I will try dragging icon to Startup in Programs with Option unchecked so no doubles.
Got it to Start by unchecking Option to Startup and dragging icon to startup folder in Prgs. Wonder whether need to run as Admin on not though.
