Hello,
i am using/testing primocache since version 0.8. It is a very nice program. Now i am using primocache 0.9.9. Only the other day I found a strange phenomenon. When I start steam counts Total Read with. If I close it and start again does not count Total Read with (what is correct), but Cached Read does not count. The same happens in Call of Duty Black Ops II. And although it can be seen on the HDD Led that there is no access to the hard disk. When i start Call of Duty MW3 the Total Read and Cached Read counts correctly. I have a primocache from 2GB size for this drive. I also tested it with a 3GB cache. But there is no cached hit by steam or Black Ops II.
The course sounds very strange. It can be reproduced.
What can that be? Or really, nothing is cached? But the HDD Led show no access.
Kind regards
No cache hit..
Re: No cache hit..
That's because windows uses its own disk cache and the second run usually comes from it.
It seems that Primo do not interfere in this cache. It intercepts hard drive calls. No calls -> no led -> no count.
I say, don't worry, as windows cache is in RAM so the fastest source available.
But it happens to be a pain if one wants to "teach" L2 cache with Primo's not_a_default settings.
