I am running 3 Intel 320 160gb in RAID0 and 16gb RAM
which is the best way to go and should i just use the default settings?

Disk or Volume
Re: Disk or Volume
Usually you may use the volume edition if you have only one volume.
The volume edition caches for the volume, while the disk edition caches for the entire disk.
The volume edition caches for the volume, while the disk edition caches for the entire disk.
Re: Disk or Volume
In the cache size (level 1) the default size is 1024. If you have 16gb of total RAM what would you suggest for the size of this "block"??? (level 1 )
Re: Disk or Volume
To get the best read performance, it is recommended that the Block Size of FancyCache is set to be equal to or less than the cluster size of the file system. This rule applies to 1) FancyCache Volume Edition, 2) FancyCache Disk Edition if the drive is SSD and was partitioned under Win7.
(Note: Although the performance can be improved by matching block size with cluster size, it might lead to the large additional memory allocated if the block size is too small, especially when the targe volume/drive is in large capacity.)

Re: Disk or Volume
First of all thank you for a great program.
I am also interested in the difference between Disk and Volume versions.
I understand that the difference is how the cache in organized but I am not sure that I understand the implications.
Can you suggest scenarios where Disk of Volume versions would be better? I hope that will help me understand what version is proper for my situation.

Re: Disk or Volume
For eg. given one disk which has three volumes, if you want to cache only one of the volumes, then you have to choose the volume edition. If you want to cache the whole disk, then you may choose the disk edition.
Re: Disk or Volume
If understand this properly, Volume edition gives more control over what is cached. Then what is the advantage of the Disk edition?
Re: Disk or Volume
Some uses may want to use one range of memory to cache the whole disk. They don't want to set up indivdual cache memory for different volumes.
Re: Disk or Volume
That makes sense, thanks.
