Big drive (>2TB)

Post by manus »

Hi,
Does Fancy cache support big volume/disk caching?
I want to use it for caching those HDD setup:
-4x2TB RAID10 (4TB useable) from Intel RST
-8x1.5TB RAID6 (9TB useable) from 3ware card
Regards.

I've been running a redundant array of samsung 1tb hdd's. No problems what so ever running this software on both drives and my main OS 60gb ssd at same time. All started off with default settings, later I dropped the redundant drive entirely off , and only use read on my main 1tb.

So I can confirm up to 1tb works. And is suitable for some adjusting, just be careful what you connect as its still in beta.

Sorry for the late reply.

When the targe disk/volume in large capacity (such as 1TB or more), usually the block size in FancyCache needs to be set a big value. Otherwise the additional memory reuired is large which may cause failure of starting caching. However the big block size usually degrades the performance.

My report:
I use only read cache to be sure to not loose data.
I get better performance ;).
I wanted use my USB3 key 16GB ("SSD Cache" in the screen shot) but his performance for write is lower than my RAID10 for sequential access.
