Automated junction points

Post by shckwav »

Hi all,

I am looking for a replacement for the ill-performing app DIMMdrive on Steam.
What I like about DIMMdrive is that it leaves the original folder of the game intact or reverts the folder to its original state.
So steam can do updates and such to the game.

I found out that DIMMdrive creates an extra folder with a 'symbolic link' to the Ramdisk, to make this possible. When disengaging the DIMMdrive the extra folder will still exist, but Steam is able to load the game from the original installation folder.

I tested the 'junction point' features in the trail version of Primo Ramdisk, but I found it very cumbersome to manually delete the points before disengaging / deleting the Ramdisk.
Is there an option to automate the creation of junction points when loading an image (sadly the trail version does not allow me to save an image, only a disk desciptor file) and, important for me, delete the junction points when disengaging / deleting the Ramdisk?

I tried to seach the forum, but I only get the message: Sorry but you cannot use search at this time. Please try again in XX seconds.

Thanks in advance for your time! :-)

I'm sorry for the late reply due to public holidays and annual leave.

Primo Ramdisk does not have such feature. I think a workaround is to create a bat script for automation. In the bat script, you can create and delete a ramdisk by CLI and then create/delete a juncition point via mklink command. For more details about Primo Ramdisk CLI, please see

PS. the trial also supports the image feature if you are not trying the standard edition. Standard edition doesn't support the image feature whether you use the trial or a formal license.
