My L2 cache is not filling up and Primo cache is not caching all I write to it.

Hello Iam having a probleam

So I want to set a LIFU system, last in first out, or a Last resource used eviction, but Primo cache is not doing it.

My setup is this a 2GB of RAM as L1, 500GB NVME Gen3 SSD acting as L2 for a 4TB 5400RPM HDD.

Iam been doing experimenting with the following:

Copying huge amounts of data in orders of 200gb to the 4TB disk from other disks, The copy is fast and then I wait for all defer write to finis, the L2 is not increasing in proportion with the data I copy there are enough space but Primo cache is not using all of my L2, I then check the files reset the statistics a and presto is reading from the slow HDD even though the L2 is there with loads of space.

Maybe Iam not doing the right config but I experimented with alot of it, maybe you guys can help me.

TLDR: I dont need a heuristics base cache just a LIFU system keep my L2 filled and only erase old content

I think its related to the fact that L2 storage gets reset for some reason and never fills the 500GB of L2, there is a bug somewhere.

I'm sorry for the late reply because we were on Lunar New Year Holiday.
By default, L2 is set to cache read-data only. If you want L2 to cache write-data, please check the #Q5 in the following page.

Sorry for reviving a dead thread.

After a year with 4tb NVME as l2 for 3 12tb HDD's I can't get more than a 1tb or so of cache on l2... I've got instant gather, I've got read and write unseparated. Most I've seen is 1.5tb cached but it's constantly dumping files out of l2 and the cache space grows not shrinks.
