3.0.9?

Post by AlexAT »

Hello,

Please post the changelogs/release notes/whatever. The new version is obviously here, but what has changed? :)

To install this over an existing 3.0.2, is it simply a matter of stopping the cache and then running the new installer? Any gotchas? (like needing to entirely remove the cache and re-create it in 3.0.9) Thanks.

The only things I did to upgrade were: flush/pause the deferred write cache (not needed if you don't enable it in the task), run the 3.0.9 installer as an Admin, reboot when prompted. Upgrade went smoothly and cache contents were preserved after reboot (prefetch loaded successfully).

Installed with no problems, many thanks for this amazing program. It was good before, and I look forward to trying out this new version and its improvements.

For me it went fine just with closing PrimoCache application and running the update plus rebooting.
After that, also upgraded windows to 1809. Primocache 3.0.9 loads fine and seems to be functioning ok.

The only thing I encountered was necessity to re-add cached volumes to Primocache cache task after going to windows 1809, these disappeared (I am using Primocache to cache storage spaces based volumes, and probably some internal storage spaces volume IDs have been changed with the Windows update).

Perhaps a daft question, but does the Fast Startup on off option refer to Windows 10 built in fast startup, or is there a fast startup built into Premocache?

By default you may install a new version by simply running the setup program and reboot as prompted after install. No other additional operations are required. If some versions require additional procedures, the setup program will pop up prompt messages.

It is Windows built-in Fast Startup feature since Windows 8.
The reason of adding this switch is that in some user computers when Fast Startup is enabled, L2 cache content is easy to be reset after shutdown. To avoid this problem and quickly turn off Fast Startup, this switch is introduced.
