Can we use our ramdrive as L2 cache? I have a spare empty RAMDrive.
Cheers!
Ramdrive as L2 cache? Topic is solved
Re: Ramdrive as L2 cache?
No. This is not suggested.

Re: Ramdrive as L2 cache?
L2 cache is designed to use physical persistent storage devices.
If your RAMDrive is a physical device, you need to tick the option "Volatile Cache Contents" in the Advanced Level-2 Cache Options". Theoretically, using this kind of drives shall have no problems. However I'm sorry that we didn't test such cases.
If your RAMDrive is a virtual device, why not just use its memory as level-1 cache?

Re: Ramdrive as L2 cache?
You mean virtual ramdrives? Directly using memory as level-1 cache is much faster than ramdrives.Adz wrote:Is it faster?

L2 cache is virutal ramdrive.support wrote:You mean virtual ramdrives? Directly using memory as level-1 cache is much faster than ramdrives.Adz wrote:Is it faster?
Re: Ramdrive as L2 cache?
So just use memory as level-1 cache instead of level-2 cache. This will be much faster.
Re: Ramdrive as L2 cache?
I'm using my RAM as L1 (315MB) and RAMDrive L2 with (215MB) Volatile Cache Contents at Gather interval fastest Any good or not?

I may point you to my most recent finding:

IMHO you can replace ANY RAM Disk using PrimoCache... and its twice as fast!
