I'm having some issues with my setup. I have 12TB HDD that is the destination, L1 is 72GB RAM and L2 is 465GB M.2 SSD.
Over the last weeks I sometimes noticed that L2 was filling up and being used but I can't pinpoint when that happens. Today I was monitoring PrimoCache closely and noticed that even though my HDD was idle for hours on end it didn't fill up the L2 cache.
I looked on the forum and found viewtopic.php?t=2608 which seems to be similar but I'm not sure that they're suggestion is still up-to-date? I'm running Windows 10.
Am I missing something?
(While I'm already here, the DEFAULT setting in GATHER INTERVAL in L2 Cache options mentions "program's default settings" - what values are those? Couldn't find it in the docs.)
Here are my settings:
L2 Cache not filling up Topic is solved
Re: L2 Cache not filling up
In the L2 Advanced settings, you may change the Gather Interval to Fastest.
I think the reason why L2 cache is not filling up is that your system has heavy read/write requests and PrimoCache think the system is busy. In the coming next version, we will add a new option to make L2 gathering data quickly even on busy systems.
Thanks.
And because you have a large L1 cache for defer-write, I don't think you need L2 for defer-write together. Caching writes will wear L2 SSD device a lot. So to reduce wear on L2 SSD, you may check the option "Individual Read/Write Cache Space" and set 100% read for L2 cache.I think the reason why L2 cache is not filling up is that your system has heavy read/write requests and PrimoCache think the system is busy. Thanks for the reply! I'll try those settings and report back.
Re: L2 Cache not filling up
Since v4.0.1, a new option "INSTANT" has been added to "GATHER INTERVAL", which gives fast filling even when system is busy.
