Quality and satisfaction

Post by gotterdammerungly »

Hi all,

I thought I would just write a few lines in praise of what I consider to be a fantastic piece of software, namely PrimoCache of course!

I found it quite by accident (it should be better known) and was intrigued enough to install the demo (which I discovered happily was for 90 days, thus giving plenty of time to really get to know the beast) despite some misgivings about handing over my precious file system to a bit of software from a company of which I had never heard! Caching has always intrigued the nerd in me, as I know how critical it can be to the performance of a PC, and for the first time there was a program that seemed to offer unprecedented control over this vital area. My curiosity was piqued!

Anyway, to cut a 90 day story short, I spent a while playing about with it, read all the (very useful and informative) help documents on the (admirably clean and well presented!) web site, learned how it worked, tried it with various bits of kit, and completely fell in love with it! So, I have just purchased the dual-license option, so that I can run it on my Windows 8.1 laptop (8gb RAM), and also my old Win XP machine (almost no RAM!). It is highly beneficial to both, but the difference it makes to the laptop is particularly spectacular, when coupled to a 64gb Sandisk Extreme USB 3.0 stick acting as L2. Boot-up is dramatically speeded-up, and all applications load at a much improved speed. I have settled on a block size of 64k, as it seems a good compromise between space efficiency/overhead and speed, although I have tried various block sizes/configurations (PrimoCache has become something of a hobby/obsession of mine - I love tweaking it and seeing what happens) and it is always much better than the machine without. It has transformed both my machines.

Thank you for a great piece of software Romex, and thanks to all who contribute to this forum whose posts have helped me to understand things when I was a little confused. I hope PrimoCache thrives!
