Re: prefetch option for "on online/connect" disk events
The same is true for .vhd disk files that can be attached/detached via powershell scripts or hotkeys. The vhd disks might be located on a LAN SMB share or even on a remote WAN share via VPN.

prefetch option for "on online/connect" disk events
Hi, i have some success using primocache for iSCSI disks that are not permanently connected. The problem is that the prefetch is only done on a restart for the first connect of the iSCSI target. What i would like is the prefetch to kick in every time the disk is either onlined or connected. Thats be...

Re: PrimoCache on mutable iSCSI target?
Oki thx for the info, i was assuming that this will be the case, but at least the L2 cache gets invalidated on disconnect from the initiator. Btw will the L2 cache be retained upon sleep/resume S4/5 and system restart? I'm not familiar how windows internally handles these cases for a connected iSCSI...

PrimoCache on mutable iSCSI target?
Hi, i wonder how primo cache determines if the L2 (ssd) cache is valid or invalid, in the case of a pause or removable blockdevice? I assume this is not supported, but how does primocache know for sure that the cache content is actually what is on the physical disk? Lets assume you pause primo cache...

Allow caching of virtual network (wan) drives/volumes.
Hi, recently i got frustrated with the crappy caching handling of most of the cloud storage mounting tools like NetDrive/Expandrive/Webdrive/CloudberryDrive/Wuala. They are all based on the idea to only use a temporary cache and they handle even this job poorly. The virtual disk/volume those tools c...

Re: PrimoCache vs VeloSSD (SSD caching)
VeloSSD (now) is an excellent product. I tried to break things by defragging the host volume and rebooting or cutting power. Velo simply recovers without causing corruption. So I'm very positive about VeloSSD now. Funny world, i actually ended up buying PrimoCache 1.01 after i had 2 bad filesystem ...

Re: PrimoCache vs VeloSSD (SSD caching)
For what it's worth, I just tested VeloCache (evaluation copy). Velocache is a complete disaster. GUI sucks, so primitive. No stats whatsoever. Velo can only cache to SSD. So if your boot drive is an SSD, you're out of luck. You can do it but it simply duplicates your SSD to another SSD. Caching my...

Re: PrimoCache vs VeloSSD (SSD caching)
In the first test i actually always did this, i just changed to have more test cases, since it was odd that PrimoCache behaved this way. So i did test 4/16/32/64k NTFS cluster size, with 4/16/32/64k cache blocks, but the result was still the same. In particular, the game "Path of Exile" se...

PrimoCache vs VeloSSD (SSD caching)
Hi, i did once test the 0.92 version of PrimoCache against VeloSSD and unfortunately, the initial write caching where much slower compared to VeloSSD. In both cases i used a 32k partition and the main difference was the time it took to copy/cache initially to the SSD. In some cases PrimoCache was ev...
