Re: Primocache ignores process I/O priority
I/o Priority by process is what is being ignored. That is set by prio or process lasso. Example, if you put low priority on defrag, it will delay defrag if there are other processes. It adds latency, if looked at in resource manager disk tab. Thing is, with primocache, primo takes over the disk acce...

Primocache ignores process I/O priority
Win 7 x64 with 16 Gb ram. I just got more ram so decided to try primocache again. 1536 MB, 64 K, read/write cache on 640GB 7200rpm HDD. Delayed writes are set to 10 seconds. It's working fine, but I have issues with I/O priority not being respected. For example, I set the malware scanner to low or b...

Re: Will L2 survive file system disk check?
In the first post I think he meant that it was asking to do it at boot up. No way windows will allow you to do chkdsk /F on a system drive without doing it at boot time. HOWEVER, since primocache runs as a driver, to help boot times etc, it may be loaded even at the most beginning where windows 7/vi...

Re: System Resource Monitor doesn't show Disk read details
Not a slow drive, but I used to run a separate OS drive so it is night and day. For sake of space and simplicity and to get back one sata port for my snapraid storage (high reccomended parity raid without the drawbacks of striping!) I made the 4tb 7200rpm seagate drive have the OS partition. When co...

Re: System Resource Monitor doesn't show Disk read details
The main problem for me with this, on my HTPC server, is that i schedule IO priority using processhacker. I make my commercial skip scans and torrents LOWEST I/O priority and windows media center recorder as HIGH, so no videos get skips in them when the server is backlogged. However with primocache,...

Re: Great program and batch/program to cache a folder!
Only problem, but I suppose every l2 caching does this:
Unclean shutdown wipes the l2 cache to unused... has to fill up again!

Re: Great program and batch/program to cache a folder!
Thanks, great sw so far, the intel z8 rapid storage caching is slower in some games that use big files.... I just tried and was dissapointed compared to primo.

Re: Great program and batch/program to cache a folder!
I went back to RST and tried expresscache sw, they both really stink when it comes to real life games.
Primocache does better....
Just a FYI, even if you have a z68, you shouldn't use intel's crappy driver, it seems to not want to cache big game files... slow load times compared to primo!

Re: Cache network share
I just tried a symlink to a SMB share folder and ran my cache update script and PrimoCache didn't cache it for reading in L1 or L2. Sorry! I think it's not possible because cache programs do it on the block level, which is based on hardware, not file level. Maybe you can try eboostr... cache the dri...

Stopping deferred write cache issue
Hi, I was running deferred write doing tests with many different sizes and types (read and read/write). Primo 0.9.2 on win7 x64 w 8gb ram A lot of times if I just hit stop cache (even if it is paused) the UI would say stopping but not respond anymore. Couldn't kill the process with taskmgr or even t...
