About L2 Cache

Post by xinwei »

1.Q: When running PrimoCache, if I have 2 separate windows volumes (E: drive and F: drive) with both drives being 60TB spinning disk RAID volumes. Will a single L2 cache do write caching for both of those volumes? Or do I need to create 2 separate L2 cache volumes? (1 for each drive)
A: PrimoCache supports one cache for multiple target volumes.
2.Q: If I do need to create 2 separate L2 cache volumes, does the 2TB limit for L2 cache apply across the aggregate of both volumes? (IE, is it 2TB total, or 2TB per L2 cache volume?)
A: 2TB per cache task
3.Q: Is there a way to share L2 between OS'es
A: Sorry, but so far no. We are working to support dual-boot with one cache.
4.Q: Can Support CONFIRM that booting into SafeMode invalidates the L2?
A: Yes. If the OS where PrimoCache is installed goes into the safe mode and then you successfully restart the computer, L2 cache will be reset. You can verify that by checking the "Free L2" value which should be almost same as the L2 cache size.

7.Q: Multiple SSD's for L2 cache
A: Please see viewtopic.php?p=15207#p15207
8.Q: If I unplug the SSD while Windows is running and later plug it back in, will all the cache have to be re-built, or will the previously-cached files remain cached?
A: PrimoCache will clear all the L2 cache content.
9.Q: Does Volatile Cache Contents flush *all* L2 data or only Defer write data?
A: Please see viewtopic.php?f=33&t=5026
10.Q: PrimoCache dumps L2 Storage
