I have a sever 2012 which really need acceleration in disk speed. It already has 2 SSD disks running as mirror.
I purchased the server edition of PrimoCache, and I tried PrimoCache 3.2 and 4, both give me the same error.
"Failed to start cache!" as below. So I followed the instruction and increased the block size, but Primo only works when I lower the memory size to 2048mb and Block Size of 64kb, or 1024mb and Block Size of 8kb.
The server has 16GB of memory, and 13GB is free. I want to use 8GB as the cache but it's impossible for PrimoCache to use any L1-cache size larger than 2GB in it.
Even when the cache is working, it seems it's not actually catching any reading. Like below: It only catch 836kb of reading , while the program already read tons of stuff.
I really wondering what caused the problem, why the program works so badly in Server 2012 r2? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Make sure you are caching the right disk. You can set the cache for several disks at once. The cache size limit is a bit surprising. If there is no bursty activity (it happens with servers) the issue may be related to Windows Server 2012 which is rather uncommon now.

Do you run PrimoCache with administrative privileges? The drive D: is about 400GB, there should be no problem to using 4KB cache block or more than 1GB RAM cache.

It works now !
I completely removed it 2 weeks ago and forgot about it.
Today I install the PrimoCache Server 4.0 in the same server. For some reason this time it works ! No need to set the block size above 8k.
I still don't know what exactly caused the problem. Last month I used exactly the same installation file. I disable the windows update, so it's not any windows update that fixed it. I am still very confused.

Quite weird...we will keep an eye on this issue. Anyway, I'm glad that it works now.
