advice for multiple drives setup

Post by james27 »

Hello
i'm new to primocache . i have 2 x 128GSSD , 1 x 1TBHDD, 24G memory and have 38G SSD
i'm developing software so i'm using heavily visual studio and also i'm using vmware frequently.
i installed windows 8 on 128GSSD and i allocated 6G memory to L1 cache and allocated 38G SSD to L2 cache.
please anyone advice to me for optimize setting.
thanks you!

How heavily are you using that 1TB disk? If all your programs are on SSD and that disk is infrequently used, you could probably dispense with L2 caching and just use L1 (freeing up that 38GB of SSD for other things). If the 1TB disk is heavily used though then the L2 caching could be far more important.

Aside from that, check the figures given for cache used/free in the PrimoCache control panel. If there is still cache free at the end of your working day, you can probably reduce it - if the amount free is zero well before the end of the day, then you could probably benefit from increasing it. Every system (and user) is different, so you'll need to experiment to find the best for you.
