Performance configuration

Post by lfernandoec »

In my workplace i have a phenom II X6 with 12GB ram, no SSD avaliable
What would be the a good configuration for this machine?

My use in work is mostly the eclipse, sql, tomcat, just basic stuff.

I don't know if i should use the primocache (only memory in this case), or primoram, or a combination of both;

The choice between Primo Ramdisk and Primocache depends on usage scenario. Both offer a free trial so you can experiment a bit. In very general terms Primocache is a set and forget solution (automated caching) while ram disks are like adding another spindle; you have to explicitly direct content there to achieve meaningful benefits. Both offer an extended free trial period.

If you're not sure start with Primocache. Breeze through the online user guide (Support -> Product Help) for basic configuration guidance. I suspect you will see a meaningful improvement in responsiveness and application load times, but it really depends on how well Windows native caching is working and how you use your machine/applications.
