best use of ssd space? little or large l2 cache?

Post by xderkx »

Hiya, i'm woundering what would be the best way to use my ssd space? i've got a 128gb drive. ATM I've got windows and my apps on it and the odd game, and a 20gb partition for l2 cache. I'm wondering though would it be better to instead remove most things from it, install them onto my 2tb mechanical drive and then use a large partition for l2 instead? like 80-90gb. So that way useless small files that rarely even get read aren't kept on my ssd using space? and does changing the block size have much impact on the performance of the level-2 cache? Thanks

Welcome to the forums Xderkx,

The answer depends on now much you use the L2 cache and how quickly it fills up after being cleared. If it fills up within the first hour or so, then you'd probably benefit from a larger one, though using a bigger partition like 40-60GB might be worth considering rather than moving everything to the 2TB drive.
