Some questions!

Post by MrCache »

Hi!

Been trying FC 0.7.0 for a couple of days now, and got some questions:

1. Upon reboot, naturally the Level-1 ram cache is purged. I was wondering if statistics is saved in some form, so FC can start building up the cache faster on next boot? Also, do you plan to add a save/load function for the Level-1 cache, or is this already implemented in some way?
I normally don't reboot my computer, but sometimes it needs to be done.

2. When using a 32-bit os, you can use invisible memory for the L2 cache for memory above ~3,5 gb. I was wondering if anything similar is planned for 64 bit versions of Windows 7 Home (Premium), since these versions can detect memory above 8/16 gb, but not use it? For example Win 7 Home Premium x64 with 24 gb ram, being able to use the "invisible memory" between 16-24 gb? This is also of interest for your ramdisk products.

Edit:
According to this link:
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/wind ... f99d9bfe9c

it would seem it is indeed possible to access ram above OS limits.

Thank you for the suggestion.

FancyCache also supports Invisible Memory on 64bit Windows, such as Windows Home edition.
