Striping SSDs for L2 cache

Post by ianmozzy »

Hi
I tried this software before and forgot about it.
After some computer issues and reinstalling the OS & software my computer, are looking into it again.
I am using velossd as caching software right now but its limited.

My PC has a z77 extreme6 motherboard.
It has 4 sata type 3 connectors, 2 by intel and two by asmedia. They all work well but only raid two of them.
I am presently using two 60GB SSDs as a cache in raid 0 setup. Only 2 sata type 3 drives are available for raid.
What I want to do is get another cheap 60 GB SSD and use 3 drives for a cache in a striped setup.

My OS does not allow software striped drives , Windows 7 home premium.

Can this software be configured to stripe drives for a cache.
I do not mean creating one through windows, but the primocache doing it itself as L2 cache.

The cost of a cheap old 60 GB drive and the primocache software is appealing if this can be done as it will significantly improve performance.

Thanks

I'm sorry but PrimoCache cannot be configured to stripe drives for a cache. If your Windows supports to create a software raid, PrimoCache can use it as level-2 cache since the coming version 2.4.0. But if your Windows doesn't support software raid, then so far PrimoCache cannot.
