Deffered write cache hanging copies in nuke/corrupting data

Post by flowerdealer »

I have a WD Black 256gb nvme which I've set as a 256gb cache (with an l1 1gb cache too). Whenever I enable deferred write cache and try to copy something, Windows copy hangs, and if I cancel it or restart or do anything, the source files seem to get corrupted, and the written directories are also always incomplete.
My Windows installation is just a month old and fairly vanilla still. Any idea of what could be happening? For now I have disabled deferred write because it's not behaving reliably.

It's a bit unexpected that the source files were impacted as well. To help us better understand the situation, could you please share your current cache configuration based on the documentation linked below? We know that defer-write is currently disabled—that’s fine. This information will be very helpful for our diagnostics.

Additionally, since you mentioned the possible corruption of files, could you perform the following preliminary checks to verify your Windows system integrity?
