Download not included in stats.

Post by bhobba »

Hi

This is my first post here, so please excuse any goofs.

I have noticed that when doing downloads, the download is not included in the write stats, i.e., what has been written and written to disk.

Once the download starts, values are stuck at the same value. I have to delete the task and create a new one.

I use 4GB for write caching, as I find that Windows' read caching works well for me, and I want my SSD to operate more efficiently and reduce wear. I am sure there is a speed difference, but on my new PC with its Gen 4 SSD, I don't notice it; at least not for what I do anyway.

Thanks
Bill

Gen 4 and 5 SSD is (almost) as fast as memory, so that is the reason you don't see much difference with PrimoCache.
PrimoCache helps a lot when your disk are (much) slower than memory.

Agreed, but why, when I do a download, what is written does not show in the stats? It may be because the writes are coming too fast - I don't know.

I still love the software, as it effectively utilises write caching to accumulate those small writes that seem to occur frequently. I have it set to 5-minute intelegent latency and can see the difference between data written to the disk and writes. That must be good for my SSD.
