Dedicate RAM channel to cache

Post by Hunter »

It may be a dumb or entirely irrelevant, but considering the(admittedly minor) latency added from additional channels when rapidly using RAM, especially when you are not getting the benefit of using all of it. Would it be possible to dedicate the entire second channel to cache rather than some amount of overall RAM? It may be completely inconsequential, but the idea hit me and as I am building a new rig and was planning on using some optane and only 2 RAM sticks as that's all i would really need. I thought it may be able to very slightly increase performance, likely not enough to matter, but still would be fun to play around with and see.

I'm sorry I don't quite understand your question. Do you mean you want to only use RAM in one physical memory stick? PrimoCache doesn't support this because it uses Windows API to allocate RAM.
