1.Q: What does Memory Overhead mean?
A: Please see viewtopic.php?f=33&t=5200
2.Q: What was the -f parameter? What did it do?
A: It's a cache parameter used in very old versions which allows users to set the access condition before data can be populated into L2. However, this parameter is not mature and caused some problems. In current designs we have abandoned it.
3.Q: Does PrimoCache support Windows Server 'core' versions (without a gui)?
A: Yes
4.Q: Does PrimoCache run as a service? Or must a user be logged in for the application to function correctly?
A: It's running at kernel level. No login is required.
5.Q: why doesn't the GUI version at least run on server core?
A: PrimoCache GUI program needs some library files which the server core doesn't install.
6.Q: Can I use an external SSD as cache?
A: Yes, PrimoCache supports external SSDs as cache.
Please note that if you unplug the external SSD when Windows is running, SSD cache content will get cleared.
7.Q: Primocache Prefetching from HDD and not SSD?
A: Yes, currently PrimoCache prefetch data from underlying disks in order not to interfere L2. But we are considering to allow prefetch from L2 for better performance.
8.Q: PrimoCache 4.0.1 Server Edition CSV Installation Guidance.
A: In previous versions, CSVs were not listed and cannot be added to a cache task. Now in v4.x they are listed and you can add them to a cache task.
If you try to cache CSVs in failover servers, you should set up cache with L1 cache only and should not enable Defer-Write. Otherwise data corruption might caused when switching to another node.
9.Q: How do we disable PrimoCache from SafeMode?
A: PrimoCache's caching function is automatically disabled in the Safe Mode.
10.Q: Windows 10 20H2 supported?
A: Please see viewtopic.php?f=33&t=5167
11.Q: Instant BSOD at Windows bootup when restarting after turning Core Isolation > Memory Integrity
A: Yes, PrimoCache or Primo Ramdisk is not compatible with Windows Core Isolation / Memory Integrity in order to get best performance. When you install PrimoCache, the setup will check the Memory Integrity setting and ask for turning it off if it is enabled. However, if you later change the Memory Integrity setting, BSOD will happen.
See #015 in the Known Issue List.
12.Q: UEFI/BIOS settings question
A: Please see viewtopic.php?f=33&t=5151
13.Q: Windows dual boot ruins cache ?
A: Please see viewtopic.php?f=33&t=5132
14.Q: Removing primocache
A: Just go to Windows Apps, and then uninstall PrimoCache.
