Feature Request - Dynamic Performance

Post by xul8tr »

It would be nice if PrimoCache could do a small performance test to identify it's ideal settings.

Along with that, the ability to set min/max ram and write-back time. PrimoCache could scale down the cache when disk activity is low and then up the cache during transfers.

Maybe find the average transfer file sizes and offer optimization suggestions for OSMM, Block Size, Latency, Write-Mode, etc.

With the "help" notes on mouse over for configuration, it'd be nice if there were some potential situations where that setting would help performance and why. Maybe suggestions like "Software developers probably want this because a lot of small cache files are written on compile" or things of that nature.

Thank you very much for your suggestions!
I have to say that it's not easy to support this feature because caching scenarios vary among different computers and even may change over time in the same computer. But we sure we will study and try to make it more intelligent and easier to use, after we complete high-priority tasks.

Is there any beta available? It seems there hasn't been an update in a while.

@xul8tr, sorry the beta version is not ready yet. The features and problems we are currently handling are not easy to be implemented/solved. We are still doing feasibility study and testing.
