Context Menu - Load file/folder to cache (L1/L2)

Post by Jaga »

I would like to get specific files into the cache (the entire file, not just sectors of it) before running apps/games. They could be a savegame, or a temp file that gets reused, or a large resource file. There's no way right now to request/force Primocache to load a file of our choosing.

It would be nice if there was a right-click (context menu) item for files and folders that pre-loaded them into L1/L2 cache.

Example: I'm running a game that builds it's own cache files, and which I clear those files out regularly when adding/removing game content. Every time I delete the files, the game rebuilds them and they are no longer cached. If I could have the game build them, and then I go and force them into Primo's cache(s), I could avoid long hours of waiting for all the content to finally make it into the cache.

My current cache config has plenty of space for large files (24g L1 / 30g L2), and it would be of great benefit.

Thank you for the suggestion! We may implement it in future.

Great to hear it. I can't tell you how nice it would be to use it. :)
