What does Memory Overhead mean? Topic is solved
What does Memory Overhead mean?
When I’m inside Cache Configuration and mess around with some settings the “Memory Overhead” (Min) & (Max) number changes in the bottom left corner. Can someone explain what Memory Overhead means? If the (Min) number is 602.07MB and the (Max) number is 603.07 should I set the OS Managed Memory to something like 603?
Re: What does Memory Overhead mean?
Memory Overhead is additional memory needed by PrimoCache to maintain caching such as indexes. The amount showed in the configuration dialog is an estimated value. The real used amount will be showed in the status panel (PrimoCache main dialog) after you create the cache task.
The OS Managed Memory under "Level-1 Cache" is to set how much RAM will be used as RAM cache for the cache task. This value should not include the memory overhead. That is, total RAM will used in a cache task is Level-1 Cache size plus memory overhead.
