[2017-12-31] Primo Ramdisk 6.0.0 beta is available now!

Post by Support »

We are glad that now Primo Ramdisk 6.0.0 beta (Standard/Professional/Ultimate Edition) is available now! It can be downloaded from the following link.
https://www.romexsoftware.com/download/ ... .Setup.zip

We now merge the Standard, the Professional and the Ultimate Edition into one same setup package. And the program is also able to automatically switch the edition based on the license information. So now you don't need to download different packages any more.

When you install the program over the old version, on Secure-Boot Windows 10 systems, the setup program may report the error like "cannot replace the file xxx". If this happens, you may need to uninstall the old version, restart the computer and then install it again.

This is the first beta release for the 6.0.0 version, and some functions are not enabled yet. We'll continue updating it.

Thank you all for your patience and support!
Wish you all a happy New Year!

Greetings,

Thanks for the update. Can you please tell us which functions will not be enabled? Also, can you list the improvements and/or fixes this beta release version? Thanks again!

I am with Parliment here, and maybe I have missed the obvious, but how about some release notes and details on what is new, improved, and coming in the 6x version of Primo Ramdisk?

Thank you!

This release re-designed the kernel code and GUI program. It also fixed the bug that have memory conflict in Windows 7~10 which might causing BSOD at startup or some network adapters or usb devices not working.

I have installed and lightly tested (benchmarks, database storage, browser caching, and system temporary files). I am running on an AMD based Windows 8.1 Professional x64. So far, all seems to operate fine. I never experienced the described issues of the previous versions (I think). However on this beta, when I create a new drive, I do not see how to import a previously saved configuration ...

Thank you!

Working so far on my Windows 10 64bit system. Got speed increases in some FAT32 read and write speeds with the new beta version.

I tested the Meltdown/Spectre patch on my x64 AMD Windows Professional 8.1 with several diagnostic utilities. I did experience a very slight slow-down (<1%). Not knowing the exact mechanism of the Microsoft fix and that my AMD processor was only affected by the Spectre side of this issue, I cannot say if this performance hit is true for all ...

Theoretically the native performance of our products shall not be affected because they are working in the kernel level. However, some testing/benchmark software might be affected, leading to a lower testing score. Some computers are slightly affected, some are affected a lot. We even saw 5%~10% slow-down on some computers.
