I just stumbled across Fancy Cache yesterday & have been playing around with settings, but have yet to realize any significant performance improvement. Suggestions are appreciated.
System Specs are:
My OS drive is a Crucial M4 SSD with a 256MB built-in cache. Here are the memory stats from the Resource Monitor, with several of my most-used programs open & I am currently allocating a total of 2048MB through Fancy Cache (1024 for the Crucial M4 and 1024 for a data drive):
Here are current settings for the Crucial M4 - don't laugh!
My "X" drive I use a lot to load large camera raw files, edit and convert to jpgs, and save back to the disk. I'm really not sure if caching this disk should help - I haven't noticed much change in read/writes. here are the current settings for the "X" drive:
I hope this is enough info. I'll be glad to provide any more if requested.
I would like to get some input from experienced users of Fancy Cache. Thanks.
Need suggestions for cache settings
Re: Need suggestions for cache settings
Enable deferred writes and averaging.
Also drop the block size down so you get more hits (but more overhead)
Whack another Gb of cache in there as well.
Deferred writes make a good difference.
