Re: Uses cases server 2008r2

I'm a big fan of the product but it's not ready for production. I'm using it for pre-production testing, I tend to run about 8vms on average but I've spun up 50 VMs and it could have handled a lot more. I haven't done any real load testing so I can say how it would react if you put users on it. It's...

Re: Some guidance, please

Manny I'm a bit reluctant to answer you... However I was a bit vague.. I've tested this extensively and I know for a fact that fancycache works via SMB. I've used it this way everyday for the past year and I get hit rates of 100% with transfers averaging 4GBs (love my 40Gbs network). SMB is a networ...

Re: Caching and YouTube performance

My guess is that 8k block is causing your issue.. Run ATTO disk benchmark and you'll see just how slow your drive performs with such a small block size. Larger block sizes will give you better performance but that doesn't mean the biggest block size is the best for your particular hardware and confi...

Re: Some guidance, please

No joy on network access caching. After a half-hour playing around with that I couldn't get it to work at all. That killed my interest in the product in its current state. This is not a bug, SMB is a networking protocol and has nothing to do with the storage system. If you want to use a disk cachin...

Re: Progress during flush or stop

You're not taking it as I intend but I am trying to help you out. :D If you brought your car to the dealer and complained that you wanted to drive your car 80MPH (128km/h) in the reverse gear, would you be surprised if they told you that it's not designed to do that? Would you argue the point that t...

Re: Progress during flush or stop

Dude I'm not hostile to this idea, I'm just pointing out that your suggestion solves a problem that only you (and perhaps a very rare few) are experiencing. Write defer is a dangerous feature and someone using extremely high defer length should be very rare. Most people will never see this progress ...

Re: Are you still developing Fancy Cache?

What are the programs that are having an issue? Do they always exhibit this behavior or is it seemingly random?

Re: Progress during flush or stop

Have you considered that this is only an issue that is related to your specific setup and your workflow? You have a huge bottleneck and the only reason why a progress bar would be of any use is because you're using a huge write delay and trying to push that data through such a small pipe. Most users...

Re: Progress during flush or stop

This isn't a very well known fact to users but 99% of the progress bars that you see are just arbitrary and they are there only to give the user comfort that activity hasn't stopped. There really is no accurate way to predicate how long it will take to write data to your disk, as the write speed of ...
