Re: Caching a very fast SSD
I've got a WD_BLACK 1TB SN850 NVMe that I use Level 1 caching, and prefetching, on, but not defer writes. Though I don't use it for downloads, or my games. If I was going to use it for something disk intensive, like Usenet downloads, then I'd use defer writes. I have an uninterruptible power supply ...

Re: Advice please
On Windows 10 (Pro), I just go to Administrative Tools/Defragment and Optimize Drives/click on the solid state drive I want to execute trim on, and choose "Optimize". The utility afterward notes the date since the drive's last retrim. "retrim" is specifically used, so I'll say th...

Re: PrimoCache performance on PCIe 4.0 vs 3.0? Slot 1 vs 2?
I think that latency could be among the most important concerns with a L2 cache, and IIRC all SSD are excellent in that regard. I have a PCIe 4.0 NVMe drive on a X570 mobo, with an AMD 5900X which it was inserted next to. It is pretty much tied for being the fastest drive around, a one TB WD Black S...

Re: Is there any way to force L2 cache a specific directory?
Sounds like Romex might be getting close to merging some of the functionality of Primo Ramdisk with PrimoCache. If you could tell PrimoCache to cache a directory using a specified amount of memory, and to reserve that memory from thereon out, you'd effectively have a Ram Disk, as long as PrimoCache ...

Re: I own two licenses, but now one PC is down
Thanks for the response! I used that email, and included all the order info that I received from Romex after making the purchase. I was just now enjoying the fast loading times while playing Call of Duty: Black Ops.

I own two licenses, but now one PC is down
I'd like to "store" the license I had for that PC for if/when I get another one. Should I do anything to notify support that the first license I purchased is no longer in use? Or is it OK to simply wait unless/until I need to use my license on another PC? Very happy customer here, as I gue...

Re: Can I use an external SSD as cache?
Is 4.X currently available for purchase to standard users? I tried looking for it but the newest download in the main page seems to be 3.2. Probably as a cautionary measure, the developers only have a link to the download for the Alpha version of a 4.0 release within the thread about new releases. ...

Re: [2019-12-31] PrimoCache 3.2.0 and 4.0.0 alpha released!
I'm guessing that the Alpha release is going very well. Will you go straight to a final, or will you introduce changes and do another Alpha, or make it a Beta?

Re: [2019-12-31] PrimoCache 3.2.0 and 4.0.0 alpha released!
Is it the case that that, while using the 4.0 Alpha, that the L2 cache can't be shared between two Cache tasks? No, 4.0 alpha doesn't change this. A L2 storage volume can be used by 16 cache tasks. You may specify a part of the L2 storage volume (by setting L2 cache size) for one cache task, and Pr...
