Re: Event 129 secnvme
All things considered, that's probably the best choice for your installation. :) Only if it actually solves my problem! :D My fear now is that this is an incompatibility with Intel's Z270 chipset as a whole and the Samsung 970 series NVMe drives. I've talked to folks with both the Z370 x Samsung970...

Re: Event 129 secnvme
I had some additional success by manually updating the Intel ME firmware that is included in the BIOS to the last available release for the z270 chipset. Instructions here: https://www.win-raid.com/t596f39-Intel-Management-Engine-Drivers-Firmware-amp-System-Tools.html WARNING: Read instructions VERY...

Re: question about video streaming
It depends on how you have the cache task set up. Click the little button with the platters icon (e.g. next to the dropdown you currently have set to "MAX" in your screenshot) to see advanced options discussed below. Options: Read/Write cache with shared space for both * Writes will hit th...

Re: Event 129 secnvme
I agree. There seems to be something very wrong with power state management on these drives. There are known issues with fixes/workarounds like completely disabling PCIe ASPM, DIPM/HIPM and MessageSignaledInterrupt (through hidden menus and registry tweaks) If Romex has contacts at Samsung it'd be r...

Re: Event 129 secnvme
WELL it's only been a few hours but I think I actually have this figured out finally. Haven't hit this issue since I discovered the following... Intel Chipset Driver versions Windows Update Provides : 10.1.1.38 Intel Driver Update Agent Provides : 10.1.1.42 Intel Website Provides : 10.1.11.3 ASUS Su...

Re: Event 129 secnvme
My biggest concern is that there are so many other reported issues that can result in Event 129 - a quick Google search shows it's surprisingly common - that there might now be some other bad configuration or driver issue that I've created through my testing masking the original issue. Only time wil...

Re: Event 129 secnvme
Well, I spent the evening running more tests on another fresh install of Windows and I've now got a consistent repro without ever installing PrimoCache :( Sorry to bring everyone down the rabbit hole with me. I'm going to start down the path of trying to work through the problem with ASUS (my mobo m...

Re: Event 129 secnvme
I've had it reproduce one time while using the Samsung Magician benchmark utility, but was unable to get it to happen again after. The new PSU is coming on Wednesday. If that fails, I'm going to try to get a friend to let me borrow their PC for testing so I can see if it's some combination of hardwa...

Re: Will not selecting MAX for L2 Storage, leave more space for Defer-Write?
The remaining space will be available for use in a separate caching task. It will not be used for Defer Writes. To create separate space for Writes vs Reads, on the cache task settings screen, click the small button to the right of the L2 Cache selection dropdown. This will take you to the advanced ...

Re: Event 129 secnvme
Definitely not. It happens in basically any game or task that hits the NVMe drive aggressively. What's fascinating is that it doesn't even require a cache task to be active. Just having PrimoCache installed seems to be enough. I keep flipflopping on whether I think it's a hardware problem - possibly...
