Re: Virtual disk as L2Storage
Actually in initial releases of PrimoCache (was named as FancyCache at that time), we used files instead of dedicated partitions. However, we discard this design and use dedicated partitions because of the performance and possible deadlock issues. Hi support. Now that is the second time I come to t...

Re: Virtual disk as L2Storage
Virtual disks are not recommended as level-2 cache because this might cause deadlock on certain conditions. Virtual disks should be supported natively. Partitioning is troublesome and always poses the risk of data loss. I have just been trying to change the size of an existing partition to create a...

Re: Another way of prefetch?
If it was the write data, it should not act this way with a read only cache I guess. I will check this out.

Re: Another way of prefetch?
L2 cache also contains L1 read-data. This has already been implemented. But why is it so much less? My 6GB RAM cache is full, while not even 2 GB of L2Storage are occupied. That's why I have suggested to mirror L1 to L2 to have those content available on restart quicker than loading them from a reg...

Re: Ignoresync not working
It's different. The ignoresync function is only for the case of unexpected computer shutdown. I see. Then I'll uphold my suggestion to natively support caching on virtual disks. That would mean PC to control attaching and detaching of virtual disks as needed and maybe perform some integrity checks ...

Re: Ignoresync not working
@support: That's what I thought. But isn't this exactly what the ignoresync function is for?
So why does PC not ignore that it might be out of sync when I enable ignoresync?

Ignoresync not working
I have described a special scenario here: http://www.romexsoftware.com/bbs2/en-us/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=4803 As stated, the L2 storage gets wiped on every shutdown / reboot. I tried preserving it using the ignoresync switch, but this did not help. So either ignoresync does not work or the L2 cach...

Another way of prefetch?
On a cache task with L1 and L2 storage I observe the L1 cache almost full with 6 Gb of data while the L2 storage is only filled with 2 Gb and still has plenty of space available. Now when I restart the computer I will lose 6 Gb cache content L1 storage while only 2 Gb of L2 storage will be preserved...

Virtual disk as L2Storage
Following situation: 1 large SSD but not wanting to use it all for PC. So normal way would be to partition and create dedicated partition(s) for PC. However this requires repartitioning every time if volume sizes need to be adjusted. So I only created a single volume and put a VHDX on it which serve...

Re: Follow up disk level caching
@points, I totally understand your scenario. However, I'm afraid that disk level caching might not come out in near feature. Probably within this year, but I cannot assure you. Thank you. At least this sounds that there is hope for this feature. As currently there doesn't seem to be a way to cache ...
