Re: [2017-12-21] PrimoCache 3.0.2 released!
I am using O&O Defrag 19 with 3.08, works like a charm for me. I also used Diskeeper along 2.40, also no problems. You should defragment regularly, like every night. Depending on the size of your cache, you will see fairly quick defrags and it keeps your drives very clean and fast. One note: If ...

Re: Help with setup 256gb ram 48TB HDD drive for video storage
I should add the wish for PrimoCache to allow read-ahead caching in that context. When data is sequential on defragmented files, it may improve read speed a lot if PrimoCache makes sure to preload a custom number of blocks BEYOND the last requested block. Why? Because whenever the next streaming blo...

Re: Help with setup 256gb ram 48TB HDD drive for video storage
Hey, that is pretty similar to what I am doing here, film post production on large 64 TB RAIDs and using disk to disk backup for daily nearline backup purpose. As Support and Jaga already mentioned, a read cache doesn't really help on your backup need, because you will likely only read the data once...

Re: Max size for L2 Cache
Hi Talaverde, can you explain a bit about what kind of data you are processing and storing on you system? I am running two servers with PrimoCache Server. The first server uses PrimoCache 2.4 for read caching 6 individual RAID5 and RAID6 system partitions from Fibre Channel SAN, about 64 TByte in to...

Journaling / recover write cache data from L2 cache
Hi Romex Software team! We have discussed it a couple of times in the past, but I think its worth to give it special attention: There is a huge need to consider implementing some kind of journaling L2 write cache in PrimoCache to be able to recover not yet flushed data from L2 SSD write cache to be ...

Re: PrimoCache Server in combination with a Intel 900P Optane card
I can see larger amounts of urgent writes, see here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/a68a307eu12tqg6/PrimoCacheSettings%20P%202018-11-17.png?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/a68a307eu12tqg6/PrimoCacheSettings%20P%202018-11-17.png?dl=0 I changed the setting for defer-write to 10s to see if thats better. I wi...

Re: More detailed information on flushing write cache data
OK, I understand. But then all that could happen is that the amout of total blocks is increasing again, right, potentially setting back the progress bar. I could live with that... But when I think about it: Wouldn't that mean that a flush to disk may end up running forever, if enough new disk data i...

Re: PrimoCache Server in combination with a Intel 900P Optane card
@Support I have "Free Cache on Written" not checked. I have "Individual Read/Write Cache Space" not checked. I have a block size of 64 KB - the volumes are formatted using that block size too. I have "Enable Defer-Write" enabled with a latency setting of 60 seconds and ...

More detailed information on flushing write cache data
I have currently one server with 2 TByte read/write cache and one server with 480 GB Optane read/write cache. When ending the software or flushing the cache, I can only see a running bar with no start/end, so it's hard to tell how long it will take. And believe me - it takes a serious amount of time...
