Re: game files from Hard disk to RAM

You can use a RAMdisk like Romex' own Primo Ramdisk. With a RAMdisk you can allocate a certain amount of your RAM (let's say 4GB unused RAM) as a disk. However, you're restricted to those 4GB, and you can't load a full-fledged game, 20GB and more, from it. If you have 32GB or more RAM in your system...

I don't know for sure about bitlocker (probably will), but it does work with Truecrypt ;)

Re: Small tip for Cryptocoin-miners on SSD

Well, I can't seem to find where the data exactly is stored. I see a lot of trimmed blocks in defer while mining, but its untraceable where it goes. I checked the usual spots like next to the exe, appdata, plain simple C:/, ... Nope, nowhere :s Dangerous? Hell yeah! I've been overclocking my system ...

Re: Individual program stats....

Primocache doesn't work that way. It just looks at what clusters on your disks (raw binary data) is most frequently used and only cache them. So for example, whenever you open up video file, it only caches the binary data from the parts you viewed, it doesn't cache the complete file. Same for execut...

Small tip for Cryptocoin-miners on SSD

I just recently started with mining those Bitcoin-alternatives like Litecoin and Dogecoin. As I noticed, A LOT of disk IO takes place on your main drive, which is an SSD in my case. As you all might know, SSD's don't like too many writecycles. But that's where Primocache comes in handy. I've setup m...

Re: Tip for Truecrypt users

Primocache doesn't save unencrypted date in RAM, it works on a lower level than Truecrypt does. It rather saves the most accessed encrypted sectors, and Primocache handled it well. Those paranoids should never use RAM :P Almost everything you do with a decrypted container gets stuck in RAM for some ...

Re: Tip for Truecrypt users

I saw too many people saying Truecrypt isn't a good combo with Primocache. Well, I just showed that isn't true, Primocache goes hand in hand with Truecrypt, boosting it performance in the same way it would for an unencrypted drive. You have to deal with a bit less performance, but for those who just...

Trimmed blocks in defer-write

I'd like to have a statistic which shows how many of the trimmed blocks were waiting in the defer-write queue. This might give a good understanding at how beneficial the defer-write is for my SSD. The possible performance I'd might get from the defer-write by rewriting blocks from the same page of t...

Re: Level 2 cache and HDD.

In your first CrystalDisk benchmark I can clearly see the effect of a RAM cache (with older RAM that is). Can you disable all L1 cache (set it to 0) and only use your L2? I guess that will make a difference. In percentages the disk may seem much faster, but in reality, it isn't. The overhead Primoca...

Re: Level 2 cache and HDD.

Do you have any benchmarks to support that as I can hardly believe that your system gets faster with L2 from an HDD. Do you have L1 RAM cache as well?
