Re: Interruptions while playing

Did I read this correct: 3GB of 12GB free?
If so it is no wonder that you have issues, neither do I understand what you try to archive by caching your system drive with .. ?! deferred write caching.

Re: How is Primo Cache better than Superfetch?

Pro not the Evo, although I would take the testing method with a gran of salt since it doesn't cover real usage. But even with MLC's labeled lifespan that still makes it last 18 years when you modify/delete/write 20GB of data per day @ 3x write amplification. This might be a better way to test: http...

Re: Using hidden RAM in Windows Server 2008

Interesting note about the Crucial drives. Never heard that before. Thanks! As a small company something like HP Lefthand and 3Par are already a bit out of budget. Just had a dicounted offer last week and it was about the entire annual budget I get for IT :( I read often about 2012R2 being a lot be...

Re: How is Primo Cache better than Superfetch?

Since you are using an EVO for the system, read+write caching might be a good idea to have those TLC chips to last longer, I would never use a TLC based SSD as system drive and especially not for important data. SSD write endurance for consumer grade drives in typical usage scenerios is proving to ...

Re: Using hidden RAM in Windows Server 2008

I was looking for potentially the LSI controller or its successor tested here: http://www.tomshardware.de/RAID_Controller-SAS-PCIe-SSD-Cache,testberichte-241198-11.html They reach a performance that is fully in our aims with this. As we will probably use "standart" SATA SSDs instead of mo...

Re: Using hidden RAM in Windows Server 2008

Well, FusionIO cards are one of the options, but the most expensive one. They are no longer alone IO-wise and other cards may surparse their performance. When we want to build an SSD RAID it will be actually a couple of times larger and potentially faster than the FusionIO card at a significantly l...

Re: How is Primo Cache better than Superfetch?

I setup a cache task for C: + D: read + write and the default size that primocache chose was 14 GB. My Cache hit rate is 4% so far. I assume that's bad. Didnt know how to play with the other settings I hope someone can help me via TeamViewer I can give you my ID / Pass via TeamViewer on an agreed t...

Re: RamDisk or PrimoCache for Photo Editing Rig?

Not sure about Corel Paint Shop, but as for Photoshop plugins they should be GPU accelerated, so a good video card helps a lot. If you work with large images using a SSD as scratch disk helps too, and you can assign how RAM Photoshop is allowed to use. If you got the same performance tuning options ...

Re: Is the Windows cache off when Primo Cache is on?

What about them? If you don't know for sure you need them, I would recommend not using them. Same goes for most of the performance tweaks you can find on the internet. See http://www.tweakhound.com/2009/12/11/ntfsmemoryusage2-tweak/ for NTFSMemoryUsage. Seems like the author didn't read the pasted ...
