When SSD/NVME is used as write cache, its write wear will increase and its lifespan will be affected. Therefore, if there is important data in its other partitions, it is not recommended to use it as write cache. I suggest you just use the free 60GB on nvme as read cache for the HDD.

Cache size depends on how much data are often accessed from your target drives. Generally, we suggest the cache size is 20% or more of the capacity of target drives.

Maybe give the user option to set idle speed as well as idle detection. I'm confident that my ssd can handle a lot more than that. especially if queue depth is bigger - as in this case -you should write groups of blocks at a time, not a single block. all disks benefit from knowing what's next to wr...
