Re: Interruptions while playing
Keeping 10% unallocated space on *any* size of SSD is always a good idea since it gives the SSD's firmware room enough to move internal data around efficiently.

Re: Fancy.cache 0.6.2 incompatible w/Win 7 Backup & Restore
Thanks for the links and suggestions, I will follow them up.
(But I won't be able to do so until late September--including further experiments to see if these errors are really Fancy.Cache's fault.)

Re: Fancy.cache 0.6.2 incompatible w/Win 7 Backup & Restore
O.K., now I have some data. No Windows Event ID 55 (Error: NTFS corruption) yet, but Windows Event ID 134 (Warning: transaction resource manager recovery). Neither message occurs when Fancy.Cache is not installed and active. I have configured Fancy.Cache for Volumes 0.6.2 in the following way: DARKM...

Re: Fancy.cache 0.6.2 incompatible w/Win 7 Backup & Restore
Always AHCI. Sorry for the delay in answering; yesterday I noticed that the Windows event log had the following events every time I have rebooted since 2011/07/16 (approximately when I started using Fancy.Cache): Log Name: System Source: Ntfs Date: 2011-07-22 21:38:47 Event ID: 134 Task Category: (2...

Re: Fancy.cache 0.6.2 incompatible w/Win 7 Backup & Restore
I did try an earlier version of fancy.cache about 3 months ago, but it was the "disk" version, and I did not use Windows Backup & Restore during that time.

Fancy.cache 0.6.2 incompatible w/Win 7 Backup & Restore
Hello, I decided to try fancy.cache for volumes 0.6.2 a week ago, caching the C: system volume with 2GB cache/4K block size/LFU-R/30 sec. deferred write on a notebook with 8GB ram, Windows 7 x64 Ultimate SP1. The only major trouble so far is that fancy.cache must be stopped before backups using Win ...

Optimal cache block size?
What are the considerations concerning optimal cache size with respect to the size of data transfers to and from the physical disk? I'm assuming that the Windows driver layer below FancyCache will probably read or write much larger segments of data than the cache block, and that FancyCache batches r...
