Re: Give us better statistics please
The "Cache Free (L1/L2)" reading gives a good indication about possible cache waste. - If L1 never reaches 32.00 MB or less, you are wasting RAM. - If L2 never gets full you are wasting L2 disk space. Decrease RAM until the L1 cache completely fills up, but only just. From there, trim RAM ...

Re: System freezing
I agree with idefix44. Running a backup, updates, virus scanners will quickly fill up your SD card. If you cannot prevent that, so be it. - Call up the properties/policies of the SD disk drive via Device Manager. Make sure "Enable write caching on the device" is checked. If the SD card is ...

Re: Win10 TP + Hyper-V + Primocache BSOD
Well I've been running Hyper-V machines on Windows 8.1 cached by Primocache without any problem at all. Although other cache vendors already proudly advertise with Windows 10 compatibility, TP means exactly what it suggest - Technical Preview. Your problem might be caused by PrimoCache. Or it might ...

Re: PrimoCache Has No Impact on Database Service
PrimoCache intercepts the standard Windows disk driver chain. Indeed programs exist which a) first create their database using the standard Windows drivers and b) subsequently access this database using their own drivers, bypassing the Windows ones. So indeed you are right. PrimoCache does not (and ...

Re: PrimoCache vs VeloSSD (SSD caching)
Well over a year ago I posted a rather negative review about VeloSSD. Now, EliteBytes has a new version which works very well indeed. The reason why I tried VeloSSD once again is that PrimoCache's L2 categorically refuses to work on my new system. AMD A10-5800K, GigaByte F2A88XM-D3H, 32 GB RAM, ST40...

Re: Warning: backup utils & PrimoCache issues
Booting from a live CD or USB stick is indeed the safest. But a faster and also quite reliable backup method is to boot from a spare partition and use Reflect/Ghost/Acronis/whatever from there. It allows one to make a true offline backup of the main partition while still having fast disk access. A p...

Warning: backup utils & PrimoCache issues
Just a word of warning. Today I found that my Macrium Reflect image backup was partly corrupt. This kind of corruption may occur with any image backup utility. PrimoCache's write delay was set to 5 minutes. I had just checked my mail (Outlook) and quickly made an image backup, as I do every few days...

Re: PrimoCache and VMware direct access
This kind of corruption is often reported when accessing a VMWare physical disk from the host, or vice-versa. That is, without PrimoCache. The corruption is a logical and fully predictable result of two independent systems accessing the same physical file system at the same time. Both systems have a...

Re: Best way to reduce write amplification?
Hi, This appears to be a 530 series firmware issue. Under certain conditions the 530 is prone to abnormally high write amplification. Moving Temp and IE off the SSD is a good step. Until (if ever) Intel comes up with a solution, your only hope is to prevent duplicate writes as much as possible by us...

Re: [Resolved] 2gb+ L2 Cache Corruption?
PrimoCache and almost every other program in existence expect to find a faultless drive, or at least a drive that can automatically remap bad sectors. Most modern drives can do this. That's why Windows presents two formatting options: one with, and one without a surface test. The 'Quick Format' opti...
