Re: how to configure?

Yes, PrimoCache will work with just L1 cache (that's how I use it) and if you are caching programs on SSD or NVMe, L1 on its own is usually the best option. However you need to choose the amount of memory to allocate to L1 with some caution - too little and performance gains will be minimal, too muc...

Re: Resizable windows

...It's a modal child window that the OS controls, which I don't believe XP ever added the ability for resizing to... I don't think it's that straightforward. I use WinXP SP3 also and have attached a screenshot with 4 File Open dialogs from different applications - Primo Ramdisk, BeebEM (an emulato...

Re: L2 Cache NvRam missing after hardware upgrade

Sorry for the delay in posting - but given this seems to be a case of an existing Windows install being moved to a new system (something which would pretty much guarantee BSODs on booting with older versions), it seems most likely to be a driver issue. However, try connecting the SSD to another syst...

Re: About Defer-Write and the risk of data loss on power outage

Greatest problem with defer-write is out of order writes. This is what causes greatest issue... Haven't out-of-order writes been a feature of NTFS since its inception, plus disk interfaces like SCSI? (with features like elevator seeking and write queuing). PrimoCache may add an extra level with Def...

Re: High CPU Usage w/ Level 1 Cache

Just to echo Support's response, you can expect to see higher CPU utilisation since (a) PrimoCache results in memory being accessed more often and (b) with increased speed, you have a higher rate of filesystem overheads (gathering together fragmented files, updating file metadata, checking file acce...

Re: PrimoCache Settings

I'd agree with Jaga's smaller block size recommendation (512KB is pretty large and will be particularly wasteful if you are accessing lots of smaller files). 16-32KB should be more practical. Assuming you have Windows and all your program files on NVMe (and keep the HDDs for non-speed critical tasks...

Welcome to the forums SylverCheetah53,

I'd recommend against posting personal information publicly (here or anywhere else) and would suggest you remove the above screenshot containing your name, address and email before it gets harvested by spammers.

Re: MEMORY_MANAGEMENT BSOD

Welcome back, Jdante87. Long time no see ;) Your dump file seems to indicate storport.sys as the cause, which is a widely-used high performance storage driver . If you have had any recent Windows updates relating to file or disk system drivers, rolling them back may help (certainly check the driver ...

Re: Primocache Prefetching from HDD and not SSD?

It could, but that relies on the L2 cache being current and correct (and there are a number of cases why this may not apply on system startup). Loading pre-fetch from the original data is the safest option and provides an extra opportunity for PrimoCache to check L2 (whether it actually does so is ...

Re: Primocache Prefetching from HDD and not SSD?

I don't understand why it can't be prefetched from L2 though. It could, but that relies on the L2 cache being current and correct (and there are a number of cases why this may not apply on system startup).
