Re: L2 slow write speeds

Bringing back a zombie thread but it's the same issue still a couple of years later. Whether I'm using readfile alone to scan in the files or just letting Primocache handle it normally, doesn't matter what the gather interval is set to, the write speed is a fraction of the read speed of the host dri...

L2 cache verified after every reboot?

I've got Primocache 4.2.0, NVME as L2, 12GB of L1. After every reboot, even a clean reboot, it is verifying the cache, which bogs the system down horribly.

I don't reboot often so I thought it was a fluke but I've reboot ~5 times today and it's run every single time.

Any advice would be appreciated.

L2 slow write speeds

I've got a Ryzen 3700x, 32GB of DDR4 3200, 12GB L1, Samsung PM961 256GB NVME caching various drives. My write speed on the NVME drive is only ~30MB/s, rarely even as high as 50MB/s, when fetching data for the cache drive. I thought maybe it was an issue with TRIM so I removed it as the L2, formatted...

Re: Is PrimoCache the best option for adding SSD like performance to an HDD?

I've been keeping an eye on Optane, StorMi and waiting to see the new option AMD is supposed to have. Not sure where Intel stands on Optane now as they've gotten out of their agreement with Micron which is how Optane came to exist. Tons of reviews of both of those apps and I've used Primocache, some...

Re: PrimoCache performance on PCIe 4.0 vs 3.0? Slot 1 vs 2?

Just my experience, the video editing and encoding likes L1. The software I use doesn't use a ton of RAM but quick IO helps in editing and 16GB of L1 has a pretty decent amount of IO potential. If your app caches the video file properly in RAM as you're working with it you won't need the L1, if you'...
