Re: Primocache and Network File Transfers
ok that makes sense then :-) I was thinking PC will cache the data at the time of sending out the data over the wire. so yeah, I am checking again with the same 15 GB file. First time download: Server: cache SSD shows around 40% active time HDD RAID shows around 0% active time All 4 logical CPU in t...

Re: Primocache and Network File Transfers
Yeah, you are correct. I looked at task manager. During the first copy from server to client, server's HDD shows activity. Then after the copy finished, I see activity on both HDD and cache SSD (maybe PrimoCache is doing it caching activity AFTER the file i/o finishes up) Unpon subsequent copy from ...

Re: Primocache and Network File Transfers
I am in almost the exact same boat here as the OP. Have been doing some testing with PC but does not look like it is caching files being served by the server. Test: I copy a large 15 GB file down from server to client, I get approx. 150 MBps Hoping that this will put it in the SSD cache. Then I dele...

Re: Which controller should the cache SSD be on? Mobo or RAID card?
update:
I found out the problem I was reporting above. The tool I was using for benchmarking - LAN speed test has some limitation in it. Hence the 2Gbps max reported by it.
If I use robocopy, I can push much more data through my 10gbps network.

Re: Which controller should the cache SSD be on? Mobo or RAID card?
Thank you for your advice and sorry for the late reply. I just noticed that I was not subscribed to this thread. I guess I have to do it manually. So yeah, I have been playing around with the trial version of PrimoCache. I have given PC 14 GB RAM as L1 cache, split 50-50 between read-write 250 GB SS...

Which controller should the cache SSD be on? Mobo or RAID card?
Hello everyone! I am trying to figure out what is the best way to accelerate my data on a RAID 6 array. Should I connect the 500GB SATA SSD to the RAID card or the motherboard? I mean which port? Both are 6Gbps capable. But my concern is that if I connect the Primocache SSD to the RAID array's free ...

Re: Level 2 cache not increasing speed
Thank you for your input and bear with me while I attempt to answer your posts: Just that you seem to have spent quite some time confirming the points made above - that the SATA connection of your SSD is not an issue, that your CPU is the bottleneck and that L1 cache is not worth enabling unless you...

Re: Level 2 cache not increasing speed
ok, I moved the L2 cache SSD to motherboard's SATA port. Ran some tests, here is the result: 2021-08-18 21_05_35-server - Remote Desktop Connection.png So it seems to me that having the SSD connected to mobo is not giving better results...in fact RW speeds are both is slower. I then paused the cache...
