Re: Can PrimoCache rival the Intel Optane System Acceleration ?

Unless I am very much mistaken you will find the solution to using an Optane Drive with Win 7 here: https://www.win-raid.com/ They have modded bioses and drivers for booting older hardware with NVME drives etc-etc and I have never had an issue with their software IF their instructions are carefully ...

Re: Faster than cache disk performance is possible:

Thx for the reply. WhyTF would windows want to break fast, large sequential I/O into small chunks for anything but the pagefile? Links if you have any plz? From researching ReadyBoost, which does this well, it became apparent that it was bought from a university. (isn't everything worth having in Wi...

Faster than cache disk performance is possible:

HDDs are good at large sequential reads. Flash is good at small random reads where it can read multiple files in the time it takes just to seek just one such file on a HDD. It's a known fact that the faster a drive is at low que depth random 4K; the snappier the system feels to the user. Suggestion...

Re: OpenFlashFire: Write Reordering Layer/buffer

@Logic, thank you for the information! PrimoCache defer-write also has such functions (identify/reorder/aggregate), and you may see #3 "Align and combine small writes to the SSD's block size" in our document below. http://www.romexsoftware.com/en-us/primo-cache/example-reduce-ssd-wear.html And we a...

Re: OpenFlashFire: Write Reordering Layer/buffer

Google Drive folder updated with new files I found: The 'latest' version called FlashFire0a0.exe 2nd Latest version; FlashFire.v0.99.zip (or is it the other way around?) Some other earlier, more beta versions. A Chrome save of a defunct site discussion. FlashPoint_description.txt I have not re-check...

Re: GpuRamDrive: GPU VRAM as RAMdisk: Game changer!?

I just tested this and PrimoCache does not 'see' the Ram drive! :( Probably because it does not show up as a physical drive in Device Manager, but is visible and usable in Explorer. Some benchmarks of GpuRamDrive on a 1080 GTX: https://scontent.fjnb7-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/47183457_222754102059860...

Re: OpenFlashFire: Write Reordering Layer/buffer

Can rxfcv.sys (PrimoCache driver) and offire.sys (OpenFlashFire driver) run both? (safely off course!) I havent tried yet as I'm having issues with AMD's RaidXpert not allowing read/write caching on my SSD. Hopefully my 60 days wont run out 1st. Give it a try, but do create a restore point at the v...

Re: GpuRamDrive: GPU VRAM as RAMdisk: Game changer!?

It's a good idea. Incorporating that ability into Primocache would make Primo the only commercial product on the market with the ability to use vRAM - I haven't heard of any others doing it. My next video card purchase may be as early as Christmas this year, and a 6GB card is the smallest I'll even...
