Deffer Write - Average - adjustable load/independent load
Hello all! My setup: 2x SSD as L2 cache with Defer Write - Average option selected. Cached HDD: target 1/2 - new and fast Seagate SSHD, target 3 - older Seagate HDD, lower performance. I observed, that when using Average Primocache writes to ALL HDD with same speed, for example 40 MB/s. My idea: opt...

Re: What does "Windows idle" mean?
Could you maybe make this parameter adjustable? So I can set that IDLE means <25% CPU load and <5% disk activity or another values, depending on needs.

Re: I'm not sure l2 cache Works properly
Even if you will set 512KB cluster for 4KB drive, then M.2 SSD is fast enough to handle refreshing of 512KB blocks. That is not an issue in my opinion, especially with 500GB cache disk. It will be mostly static content, write once, read many.

Re: Suggested Server settings
If you have UPS you can use write strategy "Idle Only" + latency: infinite. This will write data from cache to HDD only when system is idle (or cache is full), so you will not experience write speed drop when cache start flushing to hdd after 5-20-60 second. Question to @support, will you ...

Re: Is it redundant to allocate L2 cache for an SSD drive
Yes, Primocache will use L2 SSD cache to cache another SSD if you set your options to do so. Someone might want to cache large 4TB SATA SSD with fast 256GB M.2 NVME for example. As for your second question - it depends, as always. If you need hundreds of thousands IOPS then you should use L1 RAM cac...

Re: Question about TRIM and whole cached SSD's
PrimoCache does not currently support TRIM, so you are left with SSD own Garbage Collector. However, TRIM should be supported in future releases of PrimoCache as support said in some other threat.

Re: Network Drive Support
You can install PrimoCache on PC where you have your shared disks. I have my network drive accelerated with primocache this way. PrimoCache is installed simply not on remote client, but on "server" (normal PC in my case).
As long as it is a windows machine obviously.

Re: RAM + Optane as cache for SSD
Using Optane or RAM to cache SSD is good if you need hundreds of thousands IOPS for your workload - some application where you have thousands of client accessing database and performing lots of small requests/inserts. IMHO completely useless for daily usage if all you do is browse internet, play som...

Re: [Feature request] Hybrid Write
Thank you for reply. Yes, I think that data protection in case of power loss and merging write speed of cache and cached volume would be beneficial.

[Feature request] Hybrid Write
Hello. Recently one idea appeared in my mind - hybrid write. So, lets say you have (actual numbers not important) 500GB HDD that can write data 100MB/s and 60GB SSD as L2 Read/Write cache that can write data at 200MB/s. Deffer-Write is disabled, so with current PrimoCache writing to HDD is not accel...
