Re: Request: Separate L1 read and L2 write cache with safe deferred writes

I saw there was already another thread about a safe L2; https://forum.romexsoftware.com/en-us/viewtopic.php?t=5574 As support answered there that it was not possible because of the amount of index updates, but I think that this is solved now with the PCIe-4 NVMe drives that perform as fast as memory...

Re: Request: Separate L1 read and L2 write cache with safe deferred writes

As the "flush on boot" feature might be problematic on the boot disk, as the drive will be active before PrimoCache, it might be handy to not support this scenario on the boot disk - or only support L2 write-through for the boot disk, to prevent data loss.

Request: Separate L1 read and L2 write cache with safe deferred writes

I'd like to have separate caches for read and write, where read runs in L1 only, and write in L2 only. The read scenario Data in the L1 cache and the L2 cache can both be used for cached reads, but the L1 cache is never flushed to L2. Blocks read from disk are never stored in L2. When a block is rea...

Re: primocashe for gamers

As I think of it, there might be a way. 1. Make sure the system is idle 2. Create a cache for the drive 3. Read all files you want to cache 4. enable Prefetch Last Cache and Lock Cache content 5. You can use the system again Now the cache is static - it will reload after a reboot and only cache what...

Re: primocashe for gamers

Primocache is a block cache, not a file cache, so you can not choose the file size to cache

No, I haven't - I enabled the kernel memory dump now.
As soon as I have one, I will send it to you.

Dynamic cache size

At this moment, every cache has a fixed size. I'd like to see a scenario where I can provide percentages instead of Gbytes. Primocache will then use all available RAM to a utilization of 90%. The last 10% is needed to keep Windows running soomthly. When applications are started, the amount of free R...

Most Often Used

The current cache is based on MRU (Most recently used). But on big systems a I have, the chance that that data is requested again within a short period is not very big. That's why I ask for a MOU (Most Often Used) scenario, where the blocks that are used the most are cached instead. This should be c...
